Mela used to be one of my favorite restaurants, the food was always great. Then it became a hit or miss, and recently it is pretty bad. I still love the restaurant, but they have to go back to serve good food. The shell of the samosas was soft and soggy, even the sauces were runny and watery). The Lamb Saag absolutely horrible (watery and tasteless - literally there was a puddle of water in the plate). The Chapati a disappointment. Desert also poor (the cheese balls are normally smooth and delicious, this time were lumpy and bad). Sorry, it was my worst indian food ever. I hope they can fix it.

we made a reservation but still have to wait about 20 more mins. The waitress was friendly and our food came in a good timely manner however, the rice was a bit mushy. I was diasppointed when the rice wasnt cook just right.

The ambiance at Mela was quite nice -- dimmed lanterns and a lovely copper wall. The food was very good and the service was thoughtful and efficient, but not intrusive. It is a great pre or post theater restaurant, conveniently located near the BCA/Calderwood Pavilion. I would definitely go again!

waiter took forever to come take our order. the spicyness levels requested on 2 dishes were switched

We did the hotstone dining as something unusual, but the meat & seafood kept sticking to the stones, which seemed not to have been sufficiently oiled. Also, the food came off rather dry, perhaps from insufficient marinading. It would have been to be offered some sort of sauce for adding to the cooked food, perhaps more marinade or even some regular steak or Worcestershire sauce for the meat, lemon for the seafood.

Absolutely delicious food, one of the best Indian restaurants I've ever eaten at anywhere. My daughter visiting from out of town also raved about the food.

It was good, we just don't live near Mela so probably wouldn't go back for that reason.
