The food was good/very good. No issue with that. The service was almost nonexistent. It took many requests to get our check after 3.25 hours!!! Apparently too few servers to cope with all the diners. I strongly resent having an 18% tip automatically added to the bill. 1/8/2013 9:12:59 AM

It was A+++ except for the atmosphere and we understand the main dining romm is being renovated. We are looking forward to returning when the work is completed and then I"m sure it will be a perfect experience! Loved the complimentary wine & apertif. The portions are huge, we always take home food, the service and the quality of the food are outstanding. From beginning to end, from the antipasti and soup and incredible Italian bread with Olive Oil and grated cheese to the ample desserts with white or red wine with dinner as well as 4 more courses and 4 different after dinner drinks to sample all included in the price fixed meal, Mamma Maria's is the best Italian restaurant in South Philadelphia. For many years, Mamma Maria's has been a favorite dining spot for our family and friends. Whether it's a large gathering or dinner for two, the friendly atmosphere is always the best complement to the fantastic food. Dining at Mamma's is just like dining in Italy. Mamma Maria's is a great Italian restaurant! Mamma herself talks to you. The staff, and our waitress, Alberta were so accomodating (bringing our 2 1/2 old son something special for him) and explained each dish to us! Price very reasonable for such an extensive pre-fixed menu which includes wine and cordials! I was there a very long time ago and it was a great meal but wanted my husband, our 2 1/2 year old and Dad to experience it too(went to celebrate Dad's birthday)and we all enjoyed our meals!
