The service was attentive, the variety of food was fascinating and delicious. The coffee ceremony was an olfactory tour of Ethiopia; we all enjoyed it very much. My $50 Restaurant.com discount was factored into the bill with no problem whatsoever. The restaurant is charming, the staff and management are cheerful and helpful. One guest (from China and in America for the first time) found the food to be a little bit sour for his taste. But the other eight people in the party really enjoyed it. Rahel does not sell wine, so some of my guests went to a nearby shop and bought bottles of Ethiopian wine. Rahel provided a corkscrew and wine glasses at no charge.

The best Ethiopian restaurant on Fairfax (in my opinion). Even my meat eating friends agree. The staff is friendly, as well. It's always excellent!

The food here is always very good. The service is strictly okay and it can take a long time to get out of there. They always seem about unhappy that you're using a dining dough coupon. The owner insisted that the minimum purchase did not include drinks even though the coupon does not say that. We had to order some extra food we didn't want in order to meet the minimum, even though our total with drinks was well above the minimum. I think I'll try another Ethiopian place next time since they all accept dining dough.

It was a busy Friday night and it was a little under staffed. It took a while to get our food.

STAY AWAY. Extremely rude wait staff. After presenting the Restaurant.com coupon, the staff took 25 minutes to provide the bill despite multiple requests.

We were not given utensils because that is not how the food is supposed to be eaten. That is fine, but I would have appreciated being told how to eat the food,

We were there for at least 1-1/2 hours! They were slow, slow, slow! The restaurant was busy and only had 2 servers, but even that doesn't explain the wait. We foolishly decided to have dessert -- it took 20 minutes to get several plates of pre-made pastries. It's a shame, maybe it's because of the restaurant.com certificate because we gave it to the server at the beginning of the meal? Other people seemed to get more punctual service, although I did see others in there the entire time we were there. Having eaten here several others times, I was surprised (and embarrassed -- taking someone else to this "great" restaurant).

My husband and I ordered the largest meal for 2 persons. I ordered a coconut water drink for $5.95. The owners brother was our waiter and told me that we needed to spend more money because the drinks were not included in the amount we were supposed to spend. When I responded to the waiter that we couln't possibly eat more food than that which we ordered. He replied that the restaurant can't make any money of the coupon. I told him that we can forget about the order and leave and he stated no, stay and it would be okay this time. The food was slow in coming, but fresh and delicious. We won't be returning to this restaurant.
