This the place to go if you are in the mood for a nice big $26.00-$30.00 steak and can live with the "no substitutions" to the baked potato and garden salad or soup of the day policy. If you are looking for a romantic evening this is not the place for you - unless your date is easily impressed. The wait staff is not polished and the restaurant has a bit of an "old" feel. We have to admit that when we pulled up to this "off the beaten path" location and saw the architecture of the building (very basic, not much "curb appeal" we immediately started to wonder what the dining experience would be. But not to long after walking in we came to realize that this was going to be a great meal. Well, we were right! Plus, knowing that they've been around since 1948 gave us even more confidence. I could help but wonder how many storms (from the economy) they have been through over the years, and to still have their doors open, they must be doing something right! The steaks were huge and cooked to perfection. The award winning wings (appetizer) was unlike anything we've tasted before. The service very, very good. The atmosphere was such that you knew it was serious dining but with a laid back and casual feel. The server, Paula, was courteous enough initially explain that she could make the dining experience as fast or as slow as we wanted. We thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant and will return when we are in the area again! Restaurants come and they go...this one is a must see! Made a reservation, we had to wait to be seated when we got there. During reservations I told them about the twenty five dollar coupon and that my wife and I wanted to try something different for our 10 th anniversary. They said great and would mention that to us. Nothing was said. We did not get drinks for another 5 min after being seated. Then came back another 5 min to order and did not fill our drinks till the food came. This was our second visit to Genes and wasnt pleased with our meal. Obe of our steaks was all fat and no meat and we mentioned this to our waiter and he didnt offer no apology, or another order to replace the food. A member of our party asked if the had fresh veggies and the server wanted to challenge us for asking for fresh food.. We felt insulted.. We will never eat there again. 4/6/2013 10:15:56 PM

The food is delicious and the service is good. There is no atmosphere. The music that plays constantly is annoying. The restaurant is not decorated beautifully or very well at all.
