Fast and friendly service. The food is always excellent! Never disappointed. Home cooked Mexican food with quality ingredients. My favorite is the carne asada donkey burrito with red sauce. I can never eat the whole thing in one sitting and it reheats very well the next day. We used to get take-out a lot when I worked around the corner. I am really going to miss El Lucero's when we move. Highly recommend. Please give El Lucero's a try! Yum!!!

We love coming here for dinner with the family. Food is usually pretty good but could be hotter(temperature not spice) and service could be a bit better too. Servers usually have to be reminded to bring the little extras-extra plate-water for sm children-forgot the tortillas last night for one of the entrees but we let it go! Could work on that a bit. It's not going to ever prevent us from coming in to one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants!

The pork used in the chile verde was very lean (not much fat) and was excellent.
Having ketchup available on request was also important to us.

Restaurant was not busy, only two other tables were occupied, yet our order took much too long to reach our table. When I questioned our server about an item on the menu I had ordered and was not served as stated I was told that was not how they served it. I suggested that they change the menu to conform to the way it was served. Our server told me "Next time we will tell you about it" and walked away. There won't be a next time.

Been eating here many times. The food is good and the waitstaff are courteous and friendly. This place has been in business for a number of years and many of our office personel come here for lunch.

Positive: tasty fresh food; great prices; self-serve beverages (including horchata drinks); they have mole!
Negative: not enough servers; fajitas not on the menu.

El Lucero is near my daughter's workplace and she has raved about it, so I was pleased to find a certificate for it.
The restaurant is nicely decorated, with a pleasant, homey atmosphere, and the restroom was neat and clean.
Unfortunately, we went for dinner when we had an event to attend afterwards, and the cook -- we learned later -- had called in sick that night. So, we had to rush through our food when it finally arrived, and got to our event 30 minutes late!
My husband's meal did not seem to be what he ordered, and it was not as hot as he would have liked it.
On the plus side, my chili relleno was one of the best I've ever eaten, and our daughter enjoyed her shrimp dish.
On the VERY plus side, their guacamole with bacon was wonderful -- clearly homemade to order -- and we'd order it again and recommend it to all. (It occurs to me now that the appetizer may be what slowed down the delivery of our entrees.)
In any case, we would give the place another try and hope they will be having a better night.
Good, friendly service, and she did apologize sincerely for the delay and hoped we'd come back.

The portions are quite large and the cost is low. Great value. Some fat in the Carnitas.Everything else was very good.
