This was our first time to order a steak. The filet was excellent but our medium rare order was med. or med. well. The meat was of good enough quality to make the mistake tolerable. We chose to ignore the offer of a new steak as we were in a hurry and this one was still very good. 5/5/2013 6:06:15 PM

The only suggestion is to ensure the waite staff are familiar with all of the food choices. The young lady, although very good, wasn't familiar enough with the food and preparation. 4/15/2013 12:33:46 PM

One dish we ordered did not live up to expectations, too much sauce and cheese. Our waitress did remove the charge for that dish since the customer was not satisfied with the meal. 3/24/2013 4:31:34 PM

We had purchased 4 discount coupons to use at this restaurant. We had used two previously, but this time we were told that we could not order the specials and use the coupons. This was different than before and is not printed on the coupon. The waiter was cold in attitude, but this can be overlooked as people have good days and bad days. We ordered the spinach dip which came out burned on the top. Previously, the one thing I had raved over was the herbal oil that is used to dip the bread in. This time that oil was horrible. The caesar salad was very much over-dressed, our mistake for not ordering the dressing on the side. We have one more coupon left and decided to give it to the couple that came with us. They did not want it. We will probably use it to order a couple of entree salads and be done with it. It seems that we really liked Nathan's the first time we dined there, but that is has been going down hill since then. My first two experiences were marked by food that was not hot enough, but still was good. That has not been the case, this last time. 3/16/2013 12:09:22 PM

First, the waiter said we could not use the Rest.com certificate for $25 at the table if someone was having the daily special (lasagna with salad - $9.95) I guess he saw the look on our faces. Really?? Two of us wanted the special but the others wanted regular fare - sandwiches ($9.95) and pasta ($13.95). Four of us ordered a cup of soup, which on the menu was listed at $5.95. In the end, he let us do two checks, one for those who had the special, one for the others. RIDICULOUS. Then he charged us $7 for the soup. When I asked him about it, he said "It's supposed to be $7. I guess it is still on the lunch menu at $5.95. But it is $7." Again, he saw some eyebrows raised and said, I'll only charge you the menu price." Food was delicious. Always has been. Service was very uncomfortable. I asked for butter, he said he'd have to go "slice some" and he came back with 3 little pads of butter for the 5 pieces of french bread. When the bill came, he charged us $7 for the soup. I asked him about it. I left him a dollar less in tip. He didn't deserve the tip for the negative vibes he caused. There are plenty of restaurants looking for customers and there were very few tables filled when we walked in at 1 p.m. I brought 4 NEW people who regularly eat out to try Nathans who were out to have a nice, pleasant lunch together. My husband and I loved going there in the past. None of my guests will go back. I was embarrassed that I pushed for going there. I have 2 more certificates that I'm determined to use.
