This was a mixed experience, but overall, we DID like it and we would try them again. The restaurant itself seemed to need a deep cleaning. It looked absolutely fine but the air seemed a bit stale. The server (owner?) was dressed way too casually, but was very friendly, very helpful and treated us well. My kids had never had Chicago style deep dish pizza, so we bought two. They tasted great but were a bit runny. The server warned us that they needed to bake extra long. I would have been quite happy if they had baked extra extra long. But they were still very good. They brought wonderful rolls to tide us over while they baked. The next week I noticed my card had been charged twice. I called and they took care of it. The service was good and the portions were large. HOWEVER, the restaurant was located in a BAD neighborhood. More like 2.5 instead of 3 out of 5, due to being neglected most of the evening by the staff; but I do like their food. Waited WAY too long for food, hardly ever saw waitress, had to ask for drinks and refills a few times. 4/8/2013 12:04:46 AM

My server was enthusiastic as she served rolls that were warm and scrumptious, and chicken noodle soup that contained an appropriate of chicken. My ravioli seemed a little dry, but the generously meaty sauce covered it nicely. Finally, my side of broccoli was bright and perfectly steamed. 3/23/2013 4:01:56 AM

The server(middle-aged black male) was absoultely awful!!!!! I had to ask for everything except my check!!! I had to ask for silverware, naptkins, plates(this was all after he brought food out to me and would disappear for 5 minutes at a time)!!! He's been there even when it was Taylana's and he has always been completely pitiful with his service. He's extremely lazy and incompetent! Never want to be served by him again. I've actually in the past intentinally avoided being seated in his area, but last night he was the only server due too it being so slow. He needs to step his game up in a major way, be held accountable, or shown the door!!! Also the food quality is not the same. The pasta was not as good as it used to be...really bland with no flavor. And old favorite has returned as a new favorite! We will be back soon. Original Talayna's menu is intact! The St Louis style thin crust wish pepperoni, onion, and artichoke was excellent. Thin and crispy crust, fresh toppings, served piping hot. And the house salad is always a treat. A new surprise was honey butter for the hot dinner rolls! The server was very friendly as were the other customers. It is rare to have pleasant conversation with strangers, but this was quite nice! 2/16/2013 12:18:20 PM
