Restaurant Description
This elegant split-level marble dining room is exquisitely decorated with antiques, exotic flowers, and paintings. The end walls are artistically painted in watery shades of green; the side walls are imported pink Italian granite. A polished black marble divider outlining the dining room is decorated with lush orchids, English topiaries, bromeliads and palms that reach to the ceiling. 19th century sideboards, an ornate 19th century Austrian armoire to display wine, antique lamps and other antique touches punctuate this rich setting. Extending from this dining room is an all glass greenhouse with a view of the stunning 101 California Plaza. This room brings a fresh wash of light and feeling of space from the plaza into the entire restauran, and extends the restaurant out into the plaza. The plaza is decorated with sculptures, a fountain, hundreds of marble pots filled with fresh flowers, multi-trunked trees in huge granite pots, and flowering plants. The architect, Philip Johnson, has received, among numerous accolades, the highest award in architecture, the Pritzger Prize, and the highest award for a single work, the Gold Medal, for the 101 California building and plaza, which is a National Monument. He is the architect of prestigious skyscrapers, museums, universities and estates all over the world, including the Crystal Cathedral and the Barelona Museum of Modern Art. This building is the only building in the world to win First Prize from the International Association of Building Owners, an award based on architectural excellence. Private events at the Atrium are welcome to use the plaza for wedding ceremonies and cocktail receptions before dining. The greenhouse and the split level main dining room can be closed off for private events, and included for dancing for large events..

"The Atrium represents the best of California Cuisine, an extension of the remarkable new tradition begun by Chez Panisse, but with its own singular voice. The food sparkles!" SF Chronicle 3 Stars
