I love the environment 5/17/2013 8:10:38 AM
We had hoped to have an order of the wurstsalat, but they were out of that. But the salad that we did order (with graved salmon and asparagus) was excellent. It was a beautiful day to dine outside, Sara was an excellent server, and the Maibock was delightful. 5/14/2013 4:08:07 PM
Food and service were fantastic. 5/14/2013 10:13:49 AM
Food was good as always, but service was slow. 5/12/2013 4:07:18 PM
The food was great, the waiter was awesome, and the atmosphere was amazing 5/11/2013 10:14:31 AM

The food was good but very small portion. I was still hungry. 4/27/2013 8:08:49 AM
We have never had a bad experience in the 5 years we've lived here - the food and service is great! 4/24/2013 2:02:24 PM
The food was very good, we had the mixed German sausage and the Veal Schnitzel entres. The outdoor setting is also very pleasant, especially this time of year and the service was good. 4/18/2013 10:08:07 AM
we went for brunch -- the eggs Berlin (poached over a potatoe pancake with salmon) was delicious. Even the fruit with granola and yougurt was excwptional. 4/15/2013 6:05:37 PM
very nice staff...attentive...very pleased with service and atmosphere...1st rate 4/5/2013 6:06:36 AM
The service we received at Cafe Berlin was inexcusable. We were seated without menus. Luckily some one in our party grabbed from the bar, otherwise we never would have seen one. We ordered drinks and an appetizer, which took about an hour to receive. The waiter then seemed surprised that we also wanted to order dinner. He had no ability to make recommendations. When we asked to make a substitution, he said he'd check, but doubted that the Germans in the kitchen would be accommodating. The restaurant was busy, but we felt like we were sitting at the invisible table. 4/2/2013 8:22:02 PM
We lost 2 iPhones that day while visiting Washington DC and were in dire need of a computer to manage some accounts/passwords. The owner offered her MacBook and we were able to settle those right away. Not to mention, food was really good. 4/2/2013 2:08:01 AM
They were WAAAAAAY understaffed tonight. It took 90 minutes to get our entrees. You can only apologize so much. Dinner took over 2 hours and that's only because we took shortcuts at the end. I love CB but the wait times tonight were ridiculous. 3/30/2013 10:23:32 PM
The food, atmosphere, service...all really good. Their price point was a little high for the food they were serving, but not by much. 3/27/2013 10:13:57 AM
One of the reasons why we come to this restaurant is because we live in the neighborhood and are treated so well. The food is fabulous. Our Chinese guest loved the food. 3/12/2013 8:36:22 PM
The quality of the entree's has significantly improved 3/10/2013 6:09:57 PM
We stopped here for brunch on a weekend trip to DC and had brunch. Everyone enjoyed their meal...even my 6 & 15 year old daughters. The food was great. We would definitely eat here again. Very charming! 2/17/2013 2:15:37 PM
nice atmosphere, pleasant waitress and good selection of food and drink. 2/15/2013 10:59:29 PM
Cafe Berlin is always excellent no matter when we've gone there. Wonderful food and the desserts are without compare - made in house. Wonderful service besides. 2/15/2013 10:52:38 PM
The food was a little uneven, varying from good to excellent. The service was wonderful. 1/29/2013 11:34:03 AM

Highlights

Cafe Berlin has been serving traditional cuisine on Capitol Hill since 1985. It occupies the ground floor of three joined townhouses whose front yards serve as patios for outdoor dining in warm weather. The interior features a small bar and two decorated dining rooms. Walking distance from Union Station and the Capitol, it draws politicians, congressional staffers, and tourists as well as a loyal following of neighborhood residents. The chefs at Cafe Berlin are German, as are the owners, so the traditional dishes are authentically prepared but with a lighter touch. Changing seasonal menus feature fresh asparagus in the spring, Bavarian dishes during Oktoberfest, and wild game in the winter. Desserts are made in-house, and the extensive repertoire includes apple strudel, black forest cake, and luscious cream tortes. The bar offers a selection of imported German beers and wines as well as cocktails.
