We recently moved to Philly and have been looking for a good Middle Eastern restaurant...we finally found it. So far it is the best in the city! We will be back often!! 3/2/2012 8:38:00 AM
I used to eat there or order take-out YEARS ago and I'm happy to go there again. 1/21/2012 7:53:33 PM
Very large portions of wonderful middle eastern food. They made us feel like they truly appreciated us choosing to dine there. 10/18/2011 8:08:54 PM
We were disappointed in the maze (sp?). It has been our staple order at Cedars, but is nowhere near the same value for the rather high cost that it used to be. Also, we do not carry much cash, especially when spending a day in the city, and the restaurant insisted on cash only with the coupon. 9/19/2011 3:17:41 PM
I did not know that the "Maza" that we needed to purchase was a prefixed $30 per person meal. A box popped up AFTER I purchased the deal informing me of this. Since that was the only option for us to use the gift certificate, we both got the $30 meal. I do not feel that there was enough food served based on how much we paid. Our total was $56(that was after they added a 20% tip on the original bill) and I left still hungry. Also, the server forgot to mention that if you use the gift certificate, it was cash only so we had to run to an ATM in order to pay the bill. All in all, the food was good but I was not pleased with the whole experience. 8/23/2011 7:58:32 AM
not being able to use credit card was an inconvenience. Had to run to an ATM to pay check. 8/6/2011 10:55:16 PM

Highlights

Info for restaurant description - Cedars Restaurant_Philadelphia_PAIn a historic building replete with Middle Eastern decor, the custom continues here at Cedars Restaurant where award-winning and authentic dishes are freshly prepared. Come enjoy the unique dining experience and discover the trememdous ambience, friendly service, great Middle Eastern wines, and moderate prices.

If you're tired of mediocre Middle Eastern fare presented in less-than-appealing surroundings, Cedars Restaurant is the obvious step up. With exposed-brick walls, Persian rugs, and high ceilings, the space here reminds you more of an English manor house than a desert palace, but the food puts you in the right geographic state (not to mention gastronomic).

Cedar's Restuarnt menu is extensive, especially in the meatless area, giving vegetarians their fair share of choices. Avoid a lot of decision-making and order the "mazza," a large sampler plate. With more than enough hummus, baba ghannooj, stuffed grape leaves, tabooli and falafel for two hungry diners, this is a great way to fill up on several of Cedar's Restaurant many flavors.

If that sounds like too much food, try the fattouch salad, alive with fresh lemon and served with toasted pita bread. Craving heartier fare? Kabobs and roasted lamb fill the bill; both are done to a tender balance and served with an excellent yogurt sauce to cool off the spice.
