Highlights

It all started with the love for Pizza and Art! Paola inherited the love for great pizza from her father Gino and named the restaurant in his honor; then combined it with one of her favorite paintings from Raphael's La Fornarina which means the bakers daughter! Father & Daughter used to go on culinary trips to Naples and Rome (the Eternal City is the style of Pizza in Gina: Thin and Crispy!) and eat pizza every day. Then Paolas American Dream became a reality: she finally got to New York , and during her first Job in the city, became great friends with a wonderful Pizzaiolo, Ciro, who invented the crispy and thin focaccia that everybody enjoys in Amaranth, and in many more versions, at Gina La Fornarina! Try our Focaccia Gina or Focaccia Brunch and you will understand how this type of Focaccia became an instant hit and an absolute new culinary obsession for Paola! Paola is also the designer of Gina la Fornarina, since her love for the arts, made her study architecture in Milan, Italy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by The food and service were splendid, especially the saffron risotto, delicious, just like my mother-in-laws' old country recipe. Apr 8, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by We love dining at Gina and do so regularly (at least once per month). The food, atmosphere, and staff are all wonderful. There are really only several comments I can make as I have witnessed slight changes over time:- Warm bread and olive oil is no longer brought to the table when you are seated unless specifically requested.- Some dishes are now much skimmer than they have been in the past. My wife ordered the mushroom papardelle and it had very few mushroom slices where in the past the mushrooms were large and abundant. This was disappointing and she will most likely not order it again.- Sangria by the glass was very weak and tasted very much like white wine with several fruits and berries added at the time of service.- The table is no longer wiped at the time plates are removed. Nobody enjoys looking at a dirty table while trying to enjoy a romantic evening. The rest is amazing and we will continue to frequent Gina. I hope that attention to detail increased back to its original state again as they continue to grow. Apr 7, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by The food was excellent from beginning to end. I brought my wife for a birthday party to bring some of her closest friends to celebrate with us. We were treated great and when I asked if they had a candle they could add on the dessert, they surprised us with a sparking torch that lit up the room. We were treated well, the appetizer (salumi), both pizzas and the desserts (especially tiramisu) were winners. Will definitely come back. Mar 30, 2014
