Highlights

LAS VEGAS - Ensenada, Mexico landmark Hussong's Cantina has brought an approachable menu and buoyant Baja atmosphere to Las Vegas with its first U.S. outpost at The Shoppes at Mandalay Place at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. Whether it's the authentic Baja cuisine, the chance to experience the deceptively strong Original Margarita, or sing-along to the rock n' roll Mariachi band, Hussong's Cantina appeals to every kind of crowd. The 3,700 square-foot Vegas restaurant savors all of the charms of the Ensenada location -save for the diesel fumes and sawdust-covered floors. The main bar is a replica of the original, featuring the trademark rustic green and red finishes and a mirrored back bar. As diners are escorted to their table, they can peruse a variety of artifacts that pay homage to Ensenada as well as Las Vegas. The eclectic decor includes original Mexican photographs dating back to the late 1800s, and memorabilia from both the original Hussong's and founder Johann Hussong. Other elements include Mexican movie posters, memorabilia from the now-demolished Hacienda Hotel & Casino the site on which Mandalay Bay now sits - and a large Hussong's Cantina logo constructed from poker chips. Six video screens will showcase everything from the latest sporting event, to eclectic movies, and clips of Ensenada's most famous sporting event, the Score Baja 1000 off road race.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Food was really good! A little mild, spicy-wise, for us but we doctored it up with the two great salsas brought out with the complimentary chips. Margarita tasted good but but seemed weak on the tequila. Fajitas (crane asada) were tasty. Aug 10, 2014
