Julep's New Southern Cuisine
We live in Boston, but travel to Richmond several times a year since we have two children at the University of Richmond - we always have dinner at Juleps when there since it is by far our favorite Richmond restaurant! Just celebrated our son's graduation there and it was fantastic, as always!

It was a little loud. My "date", the person, was a disaster so I didnt enjoy the experience overall. That has nothing to do with your restaurant!!

Great food, great service! Only downside was a cigarette smoke smell coming from a door next to our table (maybe went to an office or alley???).

The good was very good. It had a nice ambiance. The building was also very historic. Overall, it was a great dining experience.

Food was good, but the pork shank was very salty for some reason. I would visit again but if u get the pork shank ask them to go easy on the salt.

We had friends in town from Peru and really wanted them to experience delicious southern food. The fried green tomatoes, pork belly, and shrimp and grits were insanely delicious! My husband had the cassoulet and his friend had the pork and they both loved it as well.

FOR THE FANCY IT LOOKS SOMETHING IS MISSING, TO BE HONEST I DO NOT CONSIDER TO GO BACK, AND THE IDEA WAS TO KNOW THE PLACE IN ORDER TO GO BACK WITH A DATE, BUT NO THANK YOU

It would have been excellent except that we were seated next to the front door (brrrrrr!) and the wait for our entrees was exceptionally long. The servers were friendly, the noise level is acceptable, people-watching was entertaining, and the food was fabulous!

Service is always impeccable; however, the wait between courses seemed a little long. The vegetable was Brocolli Rabe and it was so bitter it was not pleasant and I could not eat it all.

Service was excellent and the food delightful. Wonderful atmosphere and a beautiful old building that is part of the Richmond tradition.

The steak was great, I wish the menu had a chicken dish though.
Parking is very hard to find, I don't think I would go back. We had the same problem the last time we dined there.

We sat at the bar and the bartender did a great job. Enjoyed watching him cook the banana dessert.

Amy Cabaniss, the original proprietor of Cabo's Corner Bistro, opened Julep's New Southern Cuisine in July, 2003. She has beautifully remodeled the oldest commercial building in the city of Richmond, located in the heart of the historic river district, originally built circa 1817 as a lumber house by Charles Whitlock. Over the next half-century it housed a candle and soap factory, a brewery, a cigar-box maker, a produce market and a locksmith.
Julep's has already been named one of Richmond's "Top Seven Sensations" by Richmond Magazine. The professional and friendly staff, elegant atmosphere and charm of this historic building create a hospitable setting as you savor a fresh mix of flavor that captures the flare of Atlanta, Charleston, New Orleans and Savannah.
Looking to dazzle clients or friends? Julep's is available for large dinner parties, luncheons and receptions. The gorgeous upstairs dining room can accommodate up to 50 for a sit down dinner or luncheon, or the entire restaurant is available for receptions of up to 125 guests.
