One server was good but the other horrible. Couples dishes were good yet the others were misses. Wait time for food was too long.

When we got there we had to wait for about 20 minutes standing at the entry before anyone acknowledge that we were there. It was not clear if we were to go right in or wait at the entry. The waitress seemed to be short with us. The food was good but not a large amount. When I gave the dining certificate to her when we first sat down, she said that they may not take it. She said that she would have to call to see if it was ok. She did and said that we could use it. When the bill came, it was in two parts, one was the order tab that she wrote up when we ordered and the second part was a adding machine tape which included an 18% service charge which I presume was the tip. I think that the tip is something that the customer freely gives on his own and not something that the servers adds the the bill.

The servers were very attentive, quite knowledgeable about the food and extremely friendly. The place was clean and nicely furnished.

The dining experience was really good except for the quality of the food on 1/21/2013. I've been to Karakade a few times and my company has catered several times and the food has been great. However, the food on 1/21/2013 that night was not up to par compared to my past experience. I'm not sure if they had a different chef that night?

We were surprised to see 18% gratuity added as soon as we showed our gift certificate while paying the bill. This amount was not added in the actual bill. But, when we showed the certificate, the waitress said she would calculate the remaining amount to be paid and this time around added 18% gratuity. This was unexpected and totally uncalled for only because we had a gift certificate.

I was seated quickly, but I was not asked to get started with a drink - the waitress came back 10 minutes later at which point I ordered everything all at once. (and it was not busy)
