Rated 5 out of 5 by One review said the staff was indifferent. That was my initial impression for 20 seconds until I responded, "Very good and how are you? Are you loving this weather?" The hostess opened up with friendly conversation. We asked what she liked on the menu and she gave great insight that confirmed my leaning towards the scallops saying she loved them with the spinach and rice. She assured my wife that the crab cakes are made here without filler overload and said they are big enough that we could swap scallops and crab cake which we did. Her orientation was to help us find what we like. I imagine she could have reflected indifference to us if that is how we approached her.Our waitress also seemed indifferent at first until we smiled and asked how she was doing, She too transformed into a friendly and enjoyable presence. The staff starts out reserved. Just let them know you are not a self absorbed "business traveler". Being in the Hilton at the airport, they deal with "important" people as a norm. I saw some at other tables.The food was beyond my expectation. My scallops were cooked perfectly with sear, flavor and tenderness. There were 9 large scallops served over a light yellow rice containing bits of green onion and carrot. The spinach was great... Sautéed with garlic. Presentation was aesthetic with smears of a red pepper purée. The crab cake was as good as promised with lumb crab and little filler. The two cakes were bigger than expected served with the rice and asparagus that was cooked perfectly to the border between crunch and soft. Portions are very generous.I generally don't bother to write reviews even though I read them. I am leaving on vacation and wanted to try to relieve my wife's stress the evening before flying out. I searched and traded certificates I had for The Landing. The experience was experience could not have been much better including no awkwardness when I asked before dining if they honored the certificate. I felt good about leaving 20+% on the total before discount.I imagine you could have a worse experience, but they certainly are capable of making your visit enjoyable if you have the willingness to allow them. Rated 4 out of 5 by The service was incredible. There were only two other patrons in the restaurant when we were there so the waitress did not have to divide her time that much. She was friendly and more than accommodating all evening.The food was very good but I have to say I would not return, even if I were in the area again because I feel we could have had the same meal for a considerably cheaper cost. My daughter and I both love steak and we enjoyed our meal but we could have spent less in a different restaurant. Oct 22, 2013
