Restaurant Description
Get a fine meal at The Crossing with less intimidating service than you'll find in some of the grander places around town. Not only that, but the noise level is more comfortable than at many of the larger bistros. It's still a place where you can see limos parked out front and the city's movers and shakers in the cream-colored dining room, faintly reminiscent of the old Le Cirque. Beware the blue cheese soufflé placed on your table shortly after arrival; it's addictive and appetite sating unless there are at least three of you to fight over it. Great first courses, including a roasted beet and goat cheese salad to convert non-beeties, and foie gras with pears or, sometimes, blueberries, the foie gras crisp on the outside and melting inside. The Crossing has created a dining experience that incorporates ideas from some of our country's finest establishments. With the feel of a quaint Manhattan bistro and the culinary treats to back it up, this place is as good as it gets in the Midwest. The wine list matches the style of food perfectly. The wait staff is as pumped up about your meal as you are, and they are not afraid to show it. To be led through a tasting menu that slowly builds up in intensity of flavors and have that perfect bottle of wine makes you understand why the French are so rude. If you could eat like this all the time it would change you too! The professional and friendly staff at The Crossing looks forward to serving you soon.
