Restaurant Description
John Hawks Pub opened its doors at 607 North Broadway in downtown Milwaukee in 1971. The Pub quickly became a popular downtown establishment and in 1973 Mayor Henry Meier awarded the Pub the city's Beautification Award. In 1986 Hawks was remodeled and enlarged to accommodate 275 patrons. John Hawks made a historic move to Milwaukee's most prestigious address, 100 East Wisconsin Avenue in September of 1990. In 1991 the RiverWalk Patio opened and Milwaukee's 1st
RiverSplash Festival was held. The attention was on the Patio in 1993 when a duck nicknamed Gwen made it her nesting home. Hawks received the Gertie RiverWalk Award in 1993 "For contribution and Support to Make Milwaukee RiverWalk District a Better Place to Visit, Work and Live." John Hawks celebrated 25 years of business in 1997. In 1998 the Pub joined Summerfest with a booth in the Ethnic Village. In 1999 Hawks launched an Internet site at www.johnhawkspub.com.
