Restaurant Description
Tucked away on a sleepy stretch of Lombard, this snug spot does its best to evoke the understated allure of a New England eatery. Austere wainscoting provides a backdrop to a mural of a seaside scene, and a curving banquette conjures up a wave in motion. Genial waiters are culinary collaborators with easygoing Marina dwellers.
Designer John Lum, who also did the interiors for AsiaSF and Hayes & Vine Wine Bar, agreed that Owner Mark Mitcheltree had found a winning location for his intimate 45-seat restaurant. "I knew the space could capture the feeling of tranquil summer day by the sea," said Lum.
A large curvaceous banquette evocative of a curling wave is the main focus of the restaurant. A boat shaped bar welcomes patrons as they arrive inviting the touch with its finely crafted surface. Soft lighting and white panel walls highlight artist John Lund's abstract seascape mural.
