Restaurant Description
The year was 1969, our father, Joe Walker was selling insurance at the time. Not very much money was coming in and things were really rough for Joe. He was trying to take care of a wife and three young girls. With not much to lose, Joe decided to ask his father, a farmer in southeast Kansas, for a loan of $5,000.00 to open a restaurant in hopes of making a better life for himself and his family.

His brother-in-law owned the restaurant franchise that he affiliated himself with. He struggled, saved, and finally opened a pizza restaurant in Shawnee, Kansas on Nieman Road in the old McAnany home in May of 1969. After many successful years at this location, Joe decided it was time to move to a bigger building of his own. This is the current location at 60th & Nieman.

In the following years he proved to be extremely successful under this franchise name, but in 2003 he made the hard decision to sever ties with the old franchise and go on his own, so this takes us to today. Now our days are filled with remodeling and giving our restaurant a fresh new look. We are proud to announce that we are opening "Old Shawnee Pizza" mid January 2004. We will be offering the same great food, but with many more additions to our menu. We hope you enjoy our new venture as much as we hope we will.
