Restaurant Description
Named for the Chimu Empire that ruled the northern coastal region of Peru until the Inca conquered them around 1476, the Gran Chimu offers authentic Peruvian dishes including the famous 3 Ajies Ceviche.
Choose from Corbina ceviche made with a large tasty white fish related to Sea Bass; mixto (fish and shellfish); mariscos (a mixture of shrimp, mussels, squid rings, and nabs of octopus) or just shrimp. All come garnished with sliced purple onions and boiled chocolo, a thick slice of sweet potato, and a handful of chanca (toasted dried corn).
The adventurous should try Huevera a lo Macho, a corbina roe fried until crispy and smothered in a creamy sauce studded with shrimp, mussels, and squid.
End with Picarones, a pumpkins fritters in syrup, or a slab of King Kong, a pineapple flavored caramel sandwiched between two square crackers. Nothing makes a Peruvian happier!
