Restaurant Description
Mariano Rivera moved to New York in 1995 with his wife Clara, from Panama. To become a pitcher for Major League Baseball's New York Yankees. Rivera originally began his Major League career as a starting pitcher in 1995 for the Yankees. He has become one of the best closers in Major League history. Being new to New York he made close friends immediately. Friends that later became his family.
New York Yankee Mariano Rivera met Joe Fosina in 1995 when the star closing pitcher needed a ride from Yankee Stadium. Joe has worked since the 1970's for the Yankees, he does their reconditioning and alterations of their uniforms and equipment. Since Mariano had recently arrived from Panama, he wasn't sure of how to get where he was staying in Westchester from Yankee Stadium. A club official asked Joe to drop Mariano off. The ride allowed for a genuine conversation to take place, and later an amazing friendship.
Joe Fosina introduced Mariano to the family. Joe and his wife Mickie soon came to include Mariano and his wife Clara into their large family of 5 boys and 1 girl. Gary, one of Joe's sons and Mariano both had a passion for food. Gary and Mariano became great friends, through their love of food and passion of baseball.
In July 2006 Mo and Gary Fosina joined forces with Brandon Steiner of Steiner Sports Memorabilia and the doors opened to Mo's New York Grill. The restaurant has an outstanding Contemporary American menu with variety, including the Panama Special, a taste of Mo's home land, and the legendary baseball spirit of New York. They both envisioned Mo's as a destination for fantastic cuisine and a legendary sporting atmosphere. Mariano has captured the heart and vision of New York's world famous team in a stunning gallery of photographs featured throughout the restaurant. Exceptional thought went in to the Championship event room, the sporting events come alive through their photos.
