Restaurant Description
Mama opened her little restaurant in September of 1986 - her first venture into the restaurant business. This is not to say she never cooked for many. It was always at her house that the family congregated - Sundays, Holidays, - always the five course meals, always delicious, always plenty to eat, and above all, always fresh. Even when it became stylish to serve up frozen foods, it just was never done. That is the custom Mama has brought to her restaurant.

Mama Guzzardi, born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, was the youngest of five daughters - no brothers - and the only one in the family born in the United States. The Guzzardi clan migrated from Italy in 1915 - during World War I when ships were being destroyed. The four other Guzzardi sisters all married at a young age, except Mama, who enjoyed a good life with her parents until she was 24. She started cooking for her parents when she was 11 years old - and loved it! The cooking in the Guzzardi house was a challenge because she was never told what to prepare - her mama and papa loved everything she did! Although a secretary all her life, cooking was her first love. When it came time to pen the restaurant Mama felt right at home. She was also excited about naming the restaurant Guzzardi's, because, having no brothers to carry on the name, she knew it would please her family. The rest of her family soon came to help out.

Mama's policy has been to make her restaurant a place where everyone feels comfortable and able to enjoy a meal in a pleasant and comfortable surroundings. The waitresses, we feel, are excellent and will greet you with a smile (let us know if they don't). We feel our portions are very generous and we offer substitutions when ever possible. Produce is delivered daily and washed thoroughly. Our lettuce is crisp and tomatoes firm. Our soups and salad dressings are made in our restaurant daily.
