Welcome to the Black Hammock Restaurant, Marina and Fish Camp and thank you for contributing to our success over the last yen years!
Did you know that the Black Hammock Fish Camp has been an integral part of Oviedo's fishing and social life for over 40 years? More than 100,000 years old and 10,000 acres large, Lake Jessup flows into the St. John's River and abounds with crappie in the fall and winter, and blue gill and shell cracker in the warmer months.
Lake Jessup is also home for some of Florida's most unique wildlife, including more alligators and more species of birds than any other lake in Florida! Bald eagles, wild boars and bobcats also call the shores of the lake home-and why not? The lake is still virtually in its natural state with little encroachment by man on its shores. Check out Bird Island, too, directly across from our western land point: It was inhabited by Indians who farmed there years ago, and remains a privately owned bird sanctuary today.
To enjoy and see firsthand the natural beauty of Lake Jessup, book a ride on Gator Venture's seven-seat airboat in our marina. It is an adventure you won't soon forget-and one that has been featured in numerous magazines and television shows! Take a moment, too, to stroll past our marina area to see our live gators and view the wonders of Lake Jessup.
