Randolph's Restaurant & Bar
We went on a Saturday night and it wasn't terribly busy, but we still had a great meal, service, and experience. My filet mignon was prepared perfectly and my wife's scallops were as well. They gave us a different bottle of wine than we ordered, but only because they were out of the other and at the same original price. We started with shrimp salad and an assorted cheese and meats appetizer and they were great with the wine. We loved the flavors and the pairing with the wine. I did like how the alcohol list is on an iPad. We sat on the patio and even though it was on the street, it was still pretty quiet and romantic. The service was a bit slow, but we weren't in a rush and she did a great job nonetheless. I think I agree with other comments about staffing, but this really didn't detract from the service and quality of food. The best part of the evening was the valet. He had a great attitude, looked like Tony Stark from Ironman, and even remembered my name when I bumped into him in the lobby. We had a great experience and will definitely be back.

This was absolutely one of the best dining experiences we have had in a long time. The atmosphere, the service, the quality of food where all outstanding - at a very reasonable price.

We had a great first time experience and one that we addressed a fun with an interest to return. The setting was nice and inviting. Our meal were excellent, except for the halibut and it was overdone. We should have sent it back but we didn't. The saccatash was excellent though.

There could have been more tenderloin tips in the stroganoff. Everything else was great.

The waiter was hovering constantly. Trying to get Us to order second drinks when the first ones were still full.

The wait staff were attentive. The lobster, cheese and macaroni was exceptional. We'll be back.

Our waiter was very good. He anticipated our every need. Kept our table clean and organized. He kept the meal flowing from one event to the next.... Seamlessly and without disturbing our personal conversation. He made the meal all about us! With little fan fare to himself. Selfless and very much appreciated.

Keith was a great server, food was delicious. Scallops and steak were both very tender.

It's unusual for a restaurant not to offer a baked potato with the dinner meal--fries or mashed potatoes were the only choice. The bread was extraordinarily salty and we could not eat it (olive bread). If you are in the dinning room, you cannot order food from the bar menu, which doesn't make sense as the two are next to each other.

1) I made a reservation and they didn't have it when we arrived, 2) The service was extremely slow despite our table being only 1 of about 4 at first (more came later), although there was a private party in the bar area, 3) The wine glasses on our black shiny table were horrendously spotted and the replacements weren't much better, 4) When mentioning what was clearly a bite taken out of a piece of bread in the second of our baskets, the explanation was that the way the bread is made and its softness, it was simply broken off; hmmmm, we didn't buy that!, 5) I ordered soup and never received it, 6) I asked for a salad from the day's special offer and did receive it, but was charged an overpriced $6 for it, 7) my party all work in hospitality and we would have left more gratuity, but the server automatically added it, didn't circle it on the bill and didn't mention he had - which is not stated should be the case on the Restaurant.com certificate, only that we should tip on the original amount, which of course is expected; automatically adding gratuity is presumptuous and rude for a party of 3. For a party of 6 or more, okay, but for 3?!? Because of this unfortunate experience, we won't be going back!

An amazing evening. From the time we walked in, late for our reservation, we were treated so nicely. Ben was very attentive to our needs but not hovering. I do not like restaurants where servers come and reel off their name, I'll be your server tonight, etc. It sounds so phony so this was a wonderful change. We were seated at a table near the fireplace. We each had a cocktail, soup and the small filet. It was cooked just right, very tender and tasty with bacon and a special sauce. It was served with a vegetable and yummy chunky mashed potatoes and a basket of good bread and butter.
We are both older and cannot eat large steaks so this was perfect. For desert, we shared a creme brulee which was delightfully creamy. I have seen some reviews that say it is overpriced. I disagree. Comparing it to Ruth Chris or Sullivan's where all sides are extra and pricey I feel this was a bargain: $100.00 dinner for two for $ 50.00. The manager brought us each a cornbread hush puppy served on a nice plate, compliments of the house to say 'welcome'. Cozy ambiance, great food and service plus free valet parking. We loved it.

Food was adequate. Soup was amazing and the flank steak special was good except there were some rubbery 'tube looking' pieces inside of the steak. Would have been nice if the chef had removed the rubbery gross pieces so I didn't have to bite into them. Wasn't impressed with the steak tips in the mushroom pasta, however the sauce was good. Asparagus side was good, except our server, Dawn, forgot it and came out 10 minutes into our meal, rushed and late. Couldn't bite through the stems towards the ends because it wasn't cooked through.
Service was definitely below par for a place like this. Our server's name was Dawn and she was not personable at all. Service was way too slow for the entire dinner. We waited 10 minutes to be greeted and an 20 additional minutes after our plates were cleared to process our check. She dropped us the wrong check that clearly belonged to the only other table in the restaurant by that point. When we waited yet another 10 minutes to get our actual check, I noticed yet another mistake. She already had applied a 20% gratuity on our check and my credit card was already processed! I caught it as I was calculating a tip when I was signing my credit card receipt.
It really left a bad taste in my mouth. As a server myself, I know the tricks servers try and pull to make sure they earn 20%. It is no accident when gratuity gets added to a party of 2. I would have left 20% anyways, but she didn't even leave me that option.
It was almost as if she thought we wouldn't tip appropriately because of the Restaurant.com $25 coupon that I purchased. So she added herself 20% automatically thinking we wouldn't notice and maybe even leave more.
I might try and go here one more time, but the service has to impress me more or I'm never dining here again.
