Highlights

Taverna SKARA is Florida's answer to the most delicious, authentic and amazing Greek cuisine this side of the Mediterranean. This new and fabulous eatery will whisk you away to exotic and sunny islands from the minute you set foot inside. Thanks in part to the fantastic décor, which is contemporary, fresh and inviting with just the right amount of Greek accents, the ambiance is welcoming and the smiles you receive as you arrive are genuine. The food is truly sumptuous - start your meal in true meze fashion and dine on a variety of spreads like the Tzatziki, Hummus or the Tirokafteri, which is a cold Greek feta cheese purée, or enjoy an equally fabulous selection from their warm appetizer selection. Salads and soups are also a great way to start a meal, or save your appetite for their outrageously authentic and delicious entrées. Try favorites like the Pastitsio, which is a layered baked dish of pasta and meat, or try dishes like the Kotopoulo Skaras (char-grilled chicken with herbs and olive oil), the Lamb Kembab or the Salmon Filo (salmon wrapped in filo dough with herbs). Gyros, souvlaki and more are also on the tantalizing menu, so finding something scrumptious to eat is never hard. Each dish is only ever made from the highest quality and freshest ingredients, so you know your meal will be delicious. The next time you're craving a flavorful meal but are tired of the ordinary, head over to the Taverna Skara and enjoy a meal and service that is truly wonderful!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Service was bad and the food was ok at best. It took well over 1.5 hrs to get served. AND NONE OF US WILL EVER GO THERE AGAIN. Mar 10, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by very helpful waitstaff, made good recommendations, friendly personality. Feb 23, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by When you walk in it appears to be a breakfast place called "eggstyle" it's a huge place but looks like an Ihop. We stood waiting to be seated. The place was empty. The server appeared wearing a T-shirt. I only mention her attire because it is basically a cafe but the menu is insane! They do not offer Gyro's or any type of Gyro meat in anything. The cheapest entree was $16. That is a plain burger. The cheeseburger is $18. The appetizer was good but was listed as $5 and we were charged $6. It was cold feta and spices. The appetizer was really good but took 15 minutes to get. Again we were the ONLY table there. We ordered a salad that was $10. The salad consisted of shredded lettuce, olives and feta with red wine vinegar and a sprinkling of dill. It did not taste Greek at all. The salad was very small for $10 and very plain. The dinner we decided to just share because she said it was a large dinner. We got chicken souvlaki that came with fries. The food was good but took 50 mins to get and it was chicken kabobs and potatoes nothing that should take so long to cook. This dinner was $20 but it was a large portion and we shared it as well. They appeared to have several people working in back but they only walked around aimlessly. I had to ask for a drink refill even though she had walked by several times and we were her only table. It should have been obvious that my glass was empty but I guess it was not. The prices were higher than some finer Greek places but the selections were only basic dishes they tried to make sound fancy by putting the Greek spelling/name on the menu. The food was good but you can get much better Greek food for half the price and have a larger selection with quicker service at just about any other Greek restaurant in the area. This place is on the main road too. I do not know how they stay open. I completely understand why the place was empty and we were the only table. We would not go back here again. We went out for a Greek dinner and were not even able to get a Greek salad. The girl said the salad was "authentic Greek" Well, if authentic means plain in Greek then they had it. The dressing was red wine vinegar, it tasted more like an Italian dressing than anything Greek. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. We tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but I do not see this place being open very long. Jan 9, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by wine list was way overpriced at 8.50 a glassFood was bland for being greek...early evening and the place was empty and we were the only patrons. Will never go back there. Dec 30, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by The food was excellent and service very good. Dec 27, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by The waitress was nothing out of this world did not feel like a Greek tavern (ambiance) it was completely empty the food was over priced even with a $25 voucher I'm mad I had to pay $20 out of my pocket for the food. Dec 17, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Food was great, fresh, tasty. Service was very sluggish, when we first walked in there was one other family dining, it was the only way we knew the place was open. Dec 15, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Totally overpriced. Salad not included, and no side salad on menu. Had to order an $11 salad and split it. Pan fried potato side was 4 thin slices. The mixed grill was cooked properly, but stuffed peppers were burnt, and had to be doused with additional tomato sauce. Waitress never returned to find out if the tomato sauce remedy was adequate. Single servings of wine were $2+ over other restaurants. Only reason I tipped waitress was sympathy -- only 5 customers total. Do not patronize this restaurant. Oct 23, 2013
