During The Great Depression, a local tobacco warehouse in Erlanger, Kentucky was bustling with farmers. In 1933, resident Clara Rich saw an opportunity to fullfill her dream and founded a restaurant to feed the community. The Colonial Cottage opened to serve up home cooking with an affordable price. Decades later, the restaurant has gracefully withstood the test of time. While the names and faces have changed, The Cottage remains true to the original mission by offering great food at a fair price for nearly 80 years. The Colonial Cottage is known regionally for its Breakfast Omelettes and Homemade Cream Pies. It also has a dedicated following for all things goetta: goetta & eggs, goetta nachos, goetta burger, goetta grilled cheese...even goetta desserts! Although it is popular for offering breakfast all day, The Cottage has an extensive menu and serves up Daily Specials on a rotating basis. Some of the favorites include: fried chicken, prime rib, meat loaf, salmon croquettes and cottage ham. Vegetarian entrées are among the newest creations from the kitchen.
