It was Mother's Day and the atmosphere was very "dark". No music, only the tv on. The server was very nonchalant and not really into what he was doing. If he dropped a napkin on the floor, he would actually shrug and keep walking. I watched to see if he would pick it up (it was by our table), but he walked over it again and again. We were actually going to make an afternoon of it and have cocktails and listen to the band afterwards, however we decided to go elsewhere to continue my Mother's Day celebration. 5/13/2013 10:26:02 AM
The Free Man is a great place to have an enjoyable time. The atmosphere is nice. The Staff were Wonderful. The food and drinks were very good and the Music was awesome. Thank You . 5/2/2013 8:13:49 AM
Great music for an early Thursday night along with excellent food. 5/1/2013 8:09:55 PM
The service was extremely slow. We were there for 45 minutes before our order was taken. With a party of two, we were there for 2 and a half hours due to the speed of service. We only saw our waiter once every 30 to 45 minutes and he was very forgetful. We waited for things to be brought out and eventually got up and walked over to the counter to ask someone else to get us what we were requesting. 4/11/2013 12:07:23 AM
When I went, it was early in the evening--around 5:30--and the place was pretty empty at that time. It didn't start filling up until around 7:00. The food was fantastic! We had the fried boudin balls for starters, and they just melt in your mouth. We also ordered the Voodoo Chicken Sandwich and the jambalaya. While the sandwich was tasty, the jambalaya beat it hands down in the flavor department. The roasted peppers really made a great complement to the boldness of the sausage in this dish. The Free Man only has three beers on tap, so we tried the Shock Top, which ended up being the perfect balance to the spiciness of the food. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone--even vegetarians will find a couple of friendly dishes here. 4/9/2013 10:06:48 AM
