If walls could talk, the old walls of the Stanhope House c. 1794, the Last Great American Road House, would have some serious stories to tell. The club was the stomping grounds and post show hangout of a massive array of loved blues legends. The former home, stagecoach stop, general store, post office, tavern, rooming house some say brothel and hotel became well known in the early 1970's for featuring a list of performers that reads like a who's who of Blue Rock history. Paul Butterfield, Charlie Musselwhite, Dr. John, Luther Guitar Jr. Johnson, Billy Branch, Lonnie Mack, Son Seals, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Hubert Sumlin, Johnny Copeland, Richie Havens, John Lee Hooker, Albert King and Buddy Guy rocked the stage, most more than once. This honky tonk is also rumored to be home to an entirely different kind of soul. With over two hundred years of history to pull from, it's no surprise that there have been whispers about Stanhope House Ghost, a spirit that has made unexpected visits to the club and caused more than one midnight manager a bit of uneasiness. So, whether trying to mingle with ghosts or blues, come on down and experience the history. Taste our all American home cooking, have a drink and see the best in blues, rock, soul, and more on a stage of legends. The Stanhope House is officially back in business.

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 10reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Expectations are generally low for dining here, and the place was packed due to an event, but we ordered a salad and 40 minutes later they told us they ran out of lettuce. Aug 5, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Do not order the pizza or anything with marinara sauce. Their marinara sauce tasted like salsa. I asked for marinara to go with my mozzarella sticks, they brought out more salsa, saying that was their marinara sauce. I probably should've sent it back and not paid. Jul 15, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by burger is not 1/2 lb. small, frozen patty for $12, not a fair deal, low quality. Waitress was so nice, but too busy for dinner. would recommend eating else where and going to bar for your own drinks. As noted, food is marginal at best... and no more pizza. Jun 8, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by We had really good service. That makes a difference. May 11, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great live music and entertainment. Food could be better. Don't order the pizza. They need to offer desserts. Apr 22, 2015
