Rated 2 out of 5 by Cooked food is very good but sushi is not done by trained sushi chefs. However and more importantly, our waiter was grossly untrained. One of our main courses came out on its own without the other main course and both before our appetizer. Also too many mistakes with our sushi order. Waiter is new and untrained and put all the orders in at the same time instead of appetizer first followed by sushi then by main courses. Missed a few of the order items and he did not know the menu at all. I had to repeat the sushi order multiple times and it was still wrong and took three tries to get it right. The waiter was very polite and very nervous. Not his fault that he was put on the floor untrained. Not knowing menu items is a major issue and not knowing how to take orders or how to manage order flow are the owner/manager's fault. Wait staff is a big part of your business, no matter how good the food is, if wait staff does not know what they are doing, you are not going to do well in the long term. I was actually teaching the waiter how to wait tables and place orders that really should not have happened. Sushi was clearly not made by professional sushi chefs. It was too wet, rice is not made correctly, lots of bruising of the grain which means they stir rice when they added sugar and vinegar rather than folding gently as not to bruise the rice. Rice is also pressed into a block, the texture is all wrong. I used to manage a traditional Japanese restaurant that brought in top sushi chefs from Japan so I know a lot about sushi - how fish and rice should be prepared. Cooked food is very good here but I would not come here for sushi. The lights are also too dim. You really should let your customers see what they are eating unless you have something to hide. Rated 2 out of 5 by Our server was amazing. She was the best part about the entire evening by far. The food was fine, but not memorable. The atmosphere of the restaurant itself feels like it's trying too hard to be urban chic. Instead, the ultra-modern decor makes the space feel cold and exposed (not intimate), and the bad, too-loud music makes it difficult to have an enjoyable conversation. Feb 21, 2014
