Rated 2 out of 5 by Steve M from You may see the name "Duke's Cafe" and be tempted to think, "classic American diner", but don't make that mistake. There may be some items that are taken from a classic American diner menu - but they're only distantly related.I've eaten at this location since it opened, originally, as a Carl's Jr., through it's inception as Duke's (when Sammy was the owner), and on through to the current owner(s) (Ramiro and his wife). I keep hoping it will improve with enough time, but the hopes never seem to materialize.Aside from some excellent service at the front of the house, and some average breakfast selections, there's just not much to recommend at Duke's.Most of the food has always been lacking. Although SOME is made from scratch, way too much is from frozen. And they continue to use seasonings, in things like their burgers, that resemble anything but the classic flavors that one expects from a true AMERICAN diner. Not even baked potatoes with their dinners here - but you sure do get an abundance of FROZEN fries, or FROZEN onion rings, with those burgers (and other entrees). In the past, some of the cooks have treated reasonable requests as though they were personal affronts. I'm not certain about the attitudes of the current crew.Ramiro (along with his wife) is the owner/manager, and seems to be a friendly guy. I just wish he would realize that investing in quality ingredients - across the entire menu - would reap great benefits.I could go on, but I think I've addressed most of the major points. So, in summary, you should find breakfast to be mostly acceptable. I wouldn't expect much from the rest of the menu. For my money, if the area of Katella and Main St., in Orange, isn't out of your way, I highly recommend the restaurant located on the Northeast corner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Sharon P from Food with good portion. I have ordered Gyro sandwich, which is okay but doesn't taste as authentic as the Gyro’s I had in other middle eastern eateries. The New York Steak Plate is quite good: good portion for the price. Overall, I th8nk it’s a value and we will definitely come back with families.
